The project is a Greenfield wind power project with the installation capacity of 49 MW through installation and operation of 24 units of 2,000 kW wind turbines and 1 unit of 1,000 kW wind turbine. Based on the local wind resource, the project activity is expected to deliver an average 112,272 MWh of electricity to the North China Power Grid (NCPG) annually. The plant load factor is 26.15%.
The project was a part of a national demonstration project for integration of wind, PV, energy storage and transmission. The demonstrated technology has been applied in grid-connected renewable energy in over 20 provinces in China which increased the grid resilience for renewable power and decreased the abandonment of installed solar and wind. The project team also assisted over 15 countries globally with renewable energy usage. The project had also impacted the local community by creating job opportunities.
The project won national-leveled awards for technology, engineering, and management. One IEEE standard, 13 Chinese national standards, and 21 industry standards were introduced and led by the project team.
The intent of the project was to find the path of development and access to renewable energy by way of demonstation, and therefore the project has been implemented despite lower project IRR of around 3.30%-6.07%. This demonstates that the project activity is additional.
